Sinh To Dua Luoi (Cantaloupe and Honey Smoothie), Sweetened with Monk Fruit
Sweets and drinksDrinksVietnam15 minutes preparation, 5 minutes to make
This cantaloupe smoothie comes out pale orange, cold and gently sweet, smelling of ripe melon. A few drops of calamansi juice lift the glass and stop it tasting flat.
The hard part is the water in the melon, since blending it with too much ice thins the drink out. About 100g of ice to 150g of melon is right. For a thicker glass, use less ice and freeze the melon pieces first. It tastes best straight out of the blender.
This batch weighs about 266g, at roughly 53 calories per 100g.
Method
Peel 150g cantaloupe, remove the seeds, and cut it into small pieces.
Squeeze out a few drops of calamansi juice.
Put the cantaloupe, 100ml unsweetened oat milk, 8g kOBE Monk Fruit Blend with 11ml unsweetened oat milk, 5g honey, 100g ice cubes and the calamansi juice into a blender.
Blend until smooth and even, pour into a glass, and finish with a piece of melon or a few chia seeds.
Tips
It tastes best straight after blending, since it separates if it sits.
Cutting the melon and freezing it for 30 minutes before blending gives a thick glass without extra ice.
Scrape away the pale flesh close to the rind, as that part turns the smoothie slightly bitter.
The kOBE Monk Fruit Blend dissolves slowly, so mix it into the measured oat milk before it goes into the blender.
Honey is still a sugar, so keep it moderate. For a lighter glass, use less honey and a little more calamansi juice.
Blend in short pulses rather than one long run, as a hot motor melts the ice and thins the drink.
