Sinh To Dua Luoi (Creamy Cantaloupe Smoothie), Sweetened with Monk Fruit

Sweets and drinksDrinksVietnam15 minutes to prepare, 5 minutes to make

A cantaloupe smoothie takes five minutes in the blender and suits a hot afternoon. The glass comes out cold, fragrant with melon and as smooth as ice cream. The tricky part is the melon, since underripe fruit makes the drink thin and green tasting.

A few drops of calamansi juice squeezed in before blending lift the melon aroma noticeably. The ice goes in from the start so the smoothie stays smooth and cold longer. Melon cut small gives the blender an easier time.

This batch weighs about 266g, at roughly 53 calories per 100g.

Method

  1. Peel 150g cantaloupe, remove the seeds and cut it into small pieces. Squeeze in a few drops of calamansi juice to lift the aroma.
  2. Put the melon, 100ml unsweetened oat milk, 8g kOBE Monk Fruit Blend, 11ml unsweetened oat milk, 5g honey, 100g ice cubes and the calamansi juice into a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth and even.
  4. Pour into a glass, garnish with a piece of melon and drink straight away.

Tips

  • Choose cantaloupe that is just ripe with clear raised netting and a fragrant stem for a sweet glass.
  • Honey still counts as sugar, so use exactly 5g and taste again.
  • For a sweeter glass, add a little more kOBE Monk Fruit Blend.
  • kOBE Monk Fruit Blend needs a few minutes to dissolve in cold liquid, and warm water is faster.
  • Oat milk in place of condensed milk makes the mixture thinner, so chill it 15 minutes or cut back on the ice.
  • Squeeze the calamansi juice in while blending, since adding it after pouring leaves the aroma sitting on top.
